The organization

IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB) and the Viladecans Hospital (HV), located in south Barcelona.
The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience and translational medicine; research, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day in order to improve the quality of life of citizens.
IDIBELL is located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, south of Barcelona. It is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In 2009, it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Institute of Health. More recently, the European Commission has recognized IDIBELL with the HRS4R logo (Excellence in Human Resources in Research), which identifies IDIBELL as a provider and supporter of a stimulating research work environment.

The Opportunity

Meritxell Rovira’s research group belongs to the regenerative medicine program at IDIBELL and the department of physiology at UB-Bellvitge. The lab investigates the role of pancreatic progenitors in pancreas regeneration using in vivo models (mouse and zebrafish) and in vitro organoid cultures from mouse and human samples.

Main Duties

The candidate will be involved in the characterization of new populations of ductal cells already identified in the lab by scRNAseq both in vivo and in vitro in order to obtain new beta cells to induce normoglycemia in diabetic mice, this project has been funded by «Proyectos I+D+i» 2019 – Modalidades «Retos Investigación» y «Generación de Conocimiento» from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.


We are seeking motivated and dynamic candidate to pursue a career in biomedical research who has a good academic record and a Master’s degree in biological/medical science.

Additionally we will value the following skills

  • Laboratory experience in cellular and molecular biology
  • Experience in flow cytometry
  • Experience with animal models
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others as a team player
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
